Our Terms

Terms & Conditions

The following Terms and Conditions have been prepared attending classes and workshops offered by ASHTANGA YOGA AMSTERDAM.

By participating in our classes or workshops, you agree to the following terms and conditions as laid out on our website (www.ashtangayogaamsterdam.com

Definitions 
1.    AYA: Ashtanga Yoga Amsterdam which is registered in Amsterdam under KvK number 30211790. 
2.    Participant: the person who attends or registered to attend a class or a workshop, offered by AYA.
3.    Price: the total price of a service offered by AYA.
4.    Donation: a voluntary price donated by a participant for a service offered by AYA. 
5.    Class: ashtanga yoga classes scheduled by AYA, as listed on the AYA website. 
6.    Workshop: specialty yoga class(s) on different focuses to improve or complete the regular yoga practice. Such classes are planned regardless of regular studio schedule. 
7.    Website: the AYA website: www.ashtangayogaamsterdam.nl

Classes
1.    Classes are offered in the traditional “Mysore Style” format, where each student learn the sequence of postures at their own individual pace and capability. Practical information and guidelines for classes are available on the website.
2.    New students are invited to contact AYA via email (AshtangaMysoreAmsterdam@gmail.com) before joining a class.
3.    Classes are held in a 3rd party studio. Location details and address are published on the website and communicated to the students via email. 
4.    Classes are offered 6 days a week, Saturday being the day of rest. There are no classes on full and new moon days.
5.    Details of class times may vary from time to time. Class times will be published on the website. Changes in regular class times will also be communicated to the students via email. 
6.    Classes have a 30-minutes flexible starting time. The front door will be locked outside that 30-minutes time frame for safety reasons.
7.    Personal belongings are brought into the studio at student’s own risk and AYA does not accept liability for any loss or damage to personal items.
8.    Pre-registration is required for classes as space is limited. A link to the class sign up sheet is sent via email weekly to the students.

Payment 
1.    Payment for classes is on donation basis. The student can donate any amount when joining a class, in cash or via bank payment. A link for bank payment is also available on the website.
2.    Donations can be done per class, per week, per month, or whenever the students can afford a payment. The system is based on trust.
3.    Class cancellation is free until 8pm on the evening before class. If the student cancels late or doesn’t show up for class, a donation is still appreciated.
4.    AYA reserves the right to change the payment system at any time, informing students via email accordingly.

Workshops
1.    From time to time AYA will organize workshops with guest teachers in rented locations. Details of such workshops, including prices and booking info, will be available on our website.
2.    Workshops fees must be paid in full at the time of registering for the workshop. Booking is not complete until payment is received.
3.    In case of booking cancellation, a full refund (minus admin fees) is possible until 1 month prior to the workshop start date. No refunds within 1 month from the start of the workshop.
4.    AYA reserves the right to cancel the workshop in case of not enough students participating or personal/business circumstances. In such circumstances a full refund of the paid fees will be processed immediately.
5.    Workshop bookings are processed via EventBrite and their terms & conditions apply. 


Health
1.    Students are held responsible for their own wellbeing. It is the responsibility of the student to notify teachers of any injury, illness, or conditions (physical, mental or emotional) that may impact their practice. If in doubt whether this practice is suitable or not, students should contact AYA asking for advice before coming to class.
2.    Students are advised to seek medical advice before coming to a class or workshop if they have concerns over their physical condition or are currently under medical/therapeutic treatment. 
3.    AYA reserves the right to refuse access to practice to any student if, in its discretion, it considers that the health of the student (or of any fellow students, teachers or staff) may be at risk during practice.
4.    By participating in classes or workshops, students understand that this yoga practice includes intense physical movements, as ashtanga yoga is an energetic active form of yoga and there is a risk of injuries during practice. By joining our classes the student accepts the risk of injuries.   
5.    As a student, always listen to your own body. If at any time during the class or workshop, students experience discomfort or strain, they are advised to gently come out of the posture. Should the pain or discomfort persist, we recommend you inform the teacher as soon as possible. Students may rest at any time during the class. 
6.    Students are required to follow the instructions of the teacher at all times and any failure to do so will be at student’s own risk.
7.    AYA’s teachers and staff are fully trained and highly experienced and will always do their best to provide a safe and open environment for practice. AYA does therefore decline any liability for physical or mental injuries. 


Liability

AYA reserves the right to vary or revoke any of the Terms & Conditions from time to time as necessary. The latest version will be published on our websites and is binding for participants.


The Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of The Netherlands & subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Dutch courts.

Here you can read which data you exchange when you visit our site and take classes with us and how eventually we use such information.

what data do/don’t we process?

We collect some of your personal data when you join one of our classes, or when you fill in the contact form on the website. The data we collect is:
• Your first and (optional) last name
• Your e-mail address

We also process (online) payments, but we do not collect nor store your bank details.
We do not collect cookies nor anonymous usage history on the website.

We do not store your class attendance history.

 

why do we need this data?

We want to know our students by name when you come to our classes and we want to keep you informed about any lastminute changes, upcoming plans and events which are relevant to you and to your practice.

 

what do we do with your data?

We keep your email address in a list which we use for email updates and newsletters. We send out practical updates via email up to once a week if needed, and general newsletter every 2 months. We do not share your personal data with third parties and we only keep it for as long as you want to receive our updates.

 

which service providers do we use?

what are your rights about your data?

You have the right to view your personal data and have it corrected, limited or deleted.  You can send a request for review, correction, restriction or deletion via email to: AshtangaMysoreAmsterdam@gmail.com

If you do not agree with the way we treat your personal data and you’re not satisfied with our response to your request, you also have the right under privacy legislation to submit a complaint to a supervisory authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Dutch Data Protection Authority .
